One of the most commonly asked questions from my clients during this pandemic who want to build a website to ask is, “Which type of website is the best for earning?” Making money from your website isn’t a myth. To be frank, there isn’t a “fastest way to get rich” scheme. However, if you’re willing to put in the effort, you can earn a living from it.

The best way to monetize your website is, of course, with advertisements. Therefore, we need to know which type of website that can be most likely to generate ad clicks and boost your ad revenue. In this article, we’ll show you what kind of site is proven to make money.

What is Google AdSense?

Since monetizing your website with advertisements is always the best to make money online. Google has designed AdSense as part of its Google Advertising Network. It is one of the most popular established platforms for publishers to monetizing a website or a blog. Most importantly, it is a free advertising program run by Google.

Without further ado, let’s see which types of websites earn the most money with Google AdSense.

Blogs Site

Advertising is often the first that pops to our mind when we think of earning money blogging. Since blogs usually have their unique contents, it attracts visitor that are interested in that field of subject. Therefore it makes it attractive to advertisers that want to sell that particular products or services through the Google AdSense program.

Let me show you a few other methods of monetizing your blog.

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is when you’re suggesting your audience of a product or services by using referral links, you’ll then get a commission for each purchase directed from your links.

It is definitely the easiest way to make money. If you’re interested in affiliate marketing, check out those products or services you are already using, and check out if they have an affiliate program to sign up. Also, you can promote products relevant to your content from all the big stores like Amazon.

The commission might be ranging from 30% to 70% of the price, e.g. if its 30% commission and you promote a product that costs $100, you’ll get $30 for referring the buyer.

Google AdSense “Pay-Per-Click”

Once you’ve signed up Google AdSense, you have to add a script to your website and start displaying relevant advertisements. It just works, i.e. if your site is about cars, Google AdSense will start showing your visitors car accessories, car performance upgrades, and more.  You get paid every single time a user clicks on the ad.

Google AdSense is an excellent way to start earning money online when you are first starting. Your pay might be anywhere from $0.50 to $5 per click. When your site has enough traffic, you can make even more money.

Note: Google has stringent rules. When applying for AdSense, make sure you read their latest Terms of Service.

Sell Ad Space

Another way you and make money from online advertisements is to sell your own ad space directly to companies simply. You’ll need to come up with a simple flat fee for each space-area on your website.

You can also get paid according to your visitors per month, usually quoted as a dollar per thousand impressions (CPM). You might see it as $2 CPM. If the website gets 100,000 a month, the ad price will be $200/month.

BuySellAds is currently the most used platform to let people know that you’re selling ad space.

Of course, this approach is best if you currently have a lot of traffic from various sources. The more visible the ad placement, the more expensive it is. It can go as high as $5000 per month.

Accept Sponsored Posts

When you already have steady traffic to your site, you can use this approach to monetize your hard work. There are companies outside looking for blogs that will feature their sponsored content as ‘native advertising.

Some readers don’t like to see too many advertisements; this is where native advertising comes into the play. Usually, native advertising works well because it blends with your blog, and your readers will think it’s relevant to their interest.

It will surely be a win-win scenario when done right. However – if poorly done, your website audience you worked so hard to get will be revolted by the irrelevant or inauthentic content.

Forum Site

For some people, blogging and attracting loyal readers are not their biggest interest. Forum sites are also a great way for them to have a platform to speak out their thoughts, while also earning AdSense revenue.

It’s not like a blog post, you do not need to write extensive posts to attract readers. All you have to do is list forum discussion points and let users interact. A lot of people also uses forum site to drive traffic to their eCommerce site by gathering people to interact on a particular topic, directing them to their site selling the products or services. (Neat trick!)

With a highly trafficked forum site, you can further monetize the site by putting ads on the footer section.

Free Online Tool Site

We can find a lot of free online tools on the website. Have you ever thought about why do they do this? We need to believe that if the tool is valuable, people will eventually visit your site more often. You get the point; those site visitors will click on relevant ads at some point that’ll get you easy money.

For example, a free tool that I always use, CombinePDF is a free online tool that lets you merge multiple PDFs into one. Since this tool is free to use for everyone, they use Google AdSense to generate some revenue.

Start Accepting Donations

Sometimes you don’t really need tons of website visitors per month to make money. If you have a strong engaged community, you can ask your audience to donate as appreciation. This approach is definitely not a fast way to generate huge income, but it’ll definitely help to cover some minor expenses.

So, how do we get donated? You can set up a donation button to your website with PayPal easily within 15 minutes. There’s one quick tutorial for you here.
